Autism Child Care Connection Inc. was started in June 2006 by mother and daughter Linda Flamer & Nicole Flamer. Nicole is a mother of three children all whom have been diagnosed with autism. Linda and Nicole decided to create a place for other children and their parents that can help support the family as a whole. They decided the best way to do that is to open an inclusive child care center that focuses on children with autism. In August of 2006 Linda and Nicole formed a non profit corporation.
Autism Child Care Connection Inc. has held two parent information meetings, two nutrition seminars and are embarking on a third autism awareness day. Linda and Nicole continue to field numerous calls and emails from people looking for resources and advocacy. The organization has grown to include a small but committed board of directors who also want to see this child care and support center come to life.
ACCC's Goals Include:
Inclusive Child Care Center (In Harmony Child Care Center) - Children with disabilities often require more intense care. They also benefit from interaction with children who don't have disabilities. Our center will combine these two concepts and offer quality, specialized care to children with and with out special needs.
Parental Support and Advocacy - Many parents, after receiving an autism diagnosis have no idea what to do, where to turn, or who to call. We provide information on services and resources and also advocate for children with autism and their families.
Training for parents and child care providers - There are many therapies, treatments and programs developed for children and individuals with autism. No one technique works for everyone. ACCC provides training sessions on various procedures for parents and child care providers.
Cultivate Community Awareness - ACCC educates the community about autism and the benefits of including children and individuals with autism in community services and programs.
